Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms §01

By accessing or using Sentinel ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, you may not use the Service.

These terms apply to all users, including individuals, businesses, and organizations that access Sentinel through our web interface or API.

2. Description of Service §02

Sentinel is an AI security gateway and control plane that acts as an intermediary between your applications and AI providers such as OpenAI and Google Gemini. The Service provides:

  • API key authentication and access control
  • PII (Personally Identifiable Information) detection and masking
  • Prompt injection and security threat detection
  • Token usage and cost tracking
  • Audit logging and reporting
  • Real-time dashboard and analytics

3. Subscriptions and Billing §03

Sentinel offers paid subscription plans billed monthly. By subscribing, you authorize us to charge your payment method on a recurring basis.

All plans include a 14-day free trial. You will not be charged until the trial period ends. You may cancel at any time before the trial ends to avoid any charges.

Subscription fees are non-refundable except as described in our Refund Policy. We reserve the right to change pricing with 30 days advance notice.

4. Acceptable Use §04

You agree not to use Sentinel to:

  • Violate any applicable laws or regulations
  • Transmit harmful, fraudulent, or illegal content through the gateway
  • Attempt to reverse engineer, hack, or compromise the Service
  • Resell or redistribute access to the Service without authorization
  • Use the Service for any purpose that violates the terms of underlying AI providers
  • Engage in any activity that disrupts or interferes with the Service

5. Data and Privacy §05

Sentinel logs all AI requests passing through the gateway, including prompts and responses, for audit and security purposes. This data is stored securely and is only accessible to authorized users within your organization.

We do not sell your data to third parties. Please refer to our Privacy Policy for full details on how we handle your data.

6. API Keys and Security §06

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your Sentinel API keys. You must immediately notify us if you suspect any unauthorized use of your account or API keys.

We reserve the right to revoke API keys that are found to be misused or in violation of these terms.

7. Service Availability §07

We strive to maintain high availability of the Service but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. Scheduled maintenance will be communicated in advance where possible.

Business and Enterprise plans include SLA commitments as described in the respective plan documentation.

8. Limitation of Liability §08

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Sentinel shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of profits, data, or business opportunities.

Our total liability shall not exceed the amount paid by you in the 12 months preceding the claim.

9. Termination §09

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time for violation of these terms. You may cancel your subscription at any time through your account settings or by contacting support.

Upon termination, your right to use the Service immediately ceases. Your data will be retained for 30 days before permanent deletion.

Privacy Policy

1. Introduction §01

Sentinel ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you use our AI gateway service.

We do not sell your personal data. We do not share your AI prompts or responses with third parties except as necessary to provide the Service.

2. Information We Collect §02

Account Information:

  • Name and email address
  • Billing information (processed securely by Paddle)
  • Organization and department details

Usage Data:

  • AI prompts and responses passing through the gateway
  • Token usage and cost metrics
  • Security events and risk scores
  • API key usage logs
  • IP addresses and request timestamps

3. How We Use Your Information §03

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, operate, and improve the Sentinel service
  • Process payments and manage subscriptions
  • Detect and prevent security threats
  • Generate audit logs and compliance reports for your organization
  • Send service notifications and updates
  • Provide customer support

4. Data Storage and Security §04

Your data is stored on secure cloud infrastructure. We implement industry-standard security measures including encryption at rest and in transit.

Audit logs containing AI prompts and responses are stored for 90 days by default. Enterprise customers can configure custom retention periods.

PII detected in prompts is automatically masked before being forwarded to AI providers — this is a core feature of Sentinel.

5. Data Sharing §05

We share your data only in the following circumstances:

  • AI Providers: Sanitized (PII-masked) prompts are forwarded to OpenAI or Gemini as requested
  • Payment Processing: Billing data is handled by Paddle under their privacy policy
  • Legal Requirements: We may disclose data when required by law or court order

We never sell your data to advertisers or data brokers.

6. Your Rights §06

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your data
  • Export your audit logs in CSV format
  • Opt out of non-essential communications

7. Cookies §07

We use session storage (not persistent cookies) for dashboard authentication. We do not use tracking cookies or third-party analytics.

8. Changes to This Policy §08

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via email or dashboard notification. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance.

Refund Policy

1. Free Trial §01

All Sentinel plans include a 14-day free trial. You will not be charged during the trial period. You can cancel at any time before the trial ends with no charge whatsoever.

2. Cancellation §02

You may cancel your subscription at any time. Upon cancellation:

  • Your subscription remains active until the end of the current billing period
  • You will not be charged for the next billing cycle
  • You retain full access to the Service until the period ends
  • Your data will be retained for 30 days after cancellation

3. Refund Eligibility §03

We offer refunds in the following cases:

  • First charge only: If you forgot to cancel before your trial ended, contact us within 48 hours of the first charge for a full refund
  • Service outage: If Sentinel experiences significant downtime (more than 24 consecutive hours) in a given month, you may request a prorated refund for that period
  • Billing error: If you were charged incorrectly, we will refund the difference immediately

4. Non-Refundable Cases §04

We do not offer refunds in the following cases:

  • Change of mind after the first 48 hours of a paid period
  • Partial month usage — subscriptions are billed for the full period
  • Violation of our Terms of Service resulting in account termination
  • Dissatisfaction with third-party AI provider responses (OpenAI, Gemini)

5. How to Request a Refund §05

To request a refund, email us at hello@sentinel.ai with:

  • Your account email address
  • The reason for your refund request
  • The amount you believe should be refunded

We aim to respond to all refund requests within 2 business days. Approved refunds are processed within 5-10 business days depending on your payment method.

6. Enterprise Plans §06

Enterprise customers with custom contracts may have different refund terms as specified in their individual agreements. Please refer to your contract or contact your account manager.
